Sparklys builds wind turbines in India
At Sparklys Switzerland AG, we are proud to be a climate-neutral company and to support sustainable projects that make a difference for our planet. The most important partner for our hard seltzer in this area is ClimatePartner, and we are pleased to share some updates on the wind energy project in India.
Coal-based thermal power plants are one of the primary energy sources in India and, at the same time, one of the largest emitters of CO2. This climate protection project in the Nashik region of Maharashtra, India, replaces a portion of fossil-based energy by feeding renewable wind energy into the regional NEWNE power grid, which supplies Northern, Eastern, Western, and Northeastern India. To achieve this, four wind turbines with a total capacity of six megawatts were installed. Through this wind project, approximately 12,530 megawatt-hours of electricity are generated per year, and roughly 11,560 tons of CO2 are saved. Through this and the creation of several jobs, our Hard Seltzer contributes to sustainable development in India.

You can find more about the project directly here at ClimatePartner.
How wind energy contributes to climate protection
Wind power plants use—as the name suggests—the power of the wind to generate energy. A generator inside the wind turbine converts kinetic energy into electrical energy. Since energy in many regions worldwide is still primarily generated from fossil fuels, clean wind energy can replace a portion of this fossil-based, emission-intensive energy and is proven to save CO2 emissions. In most cases, the sustainably generated electricity from wind power projects is fed into a regional power grid, diversifying the energy supply and improving energy security in regions often affected by power shortages and outages. Projects frequently create various jobs for the local population, and the land can also be used for other activities, such as agriculture. It’s crazy and quite cool that Sparklys Hard Seltzer supports wind power projects that make an important contribution to the clean energy supply worldwide and contribute to sustainable development in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Sparklys Hard Seltzer & ClimatePartner
Ever since we were founded, we at Sparklys Hard Seltzer have been committed to sustainability, and it is part of our DNA. This is one of the main reasons why Sparklys Hard Seltzer is not yet available in glass bottles. The emissions from glass are significantly higher than those from aluminum cans. Don't believe us? Read more about it here.
Our hard seltzers are a perfect example of how sustainability and enjoyment can be combined. Sparklys Hard Seltzer has already supported two major climate protection projects from ClimatePartner and has offset over 117,324 kg of CO2 emissions to date (as of April 2023).
If you would like to learn more about our projects and our commitment, you can find further information, including the climate protection certificate, here on the Sparklys Hard Seltzer ClimatePartner profile.
